Icomera, the world’s leading provider of wireless Internet connectivity for public transport, wants to fill the role as Head of Embedded Development, to guide and facilitate a growing team of six software developers. With an ambition of delivering top-class connectivity products and solutions to millions of passengers and tens of thousands of vehicles, every day, Icomera is on an exciting journey.
As Head of Embedded Development your job is to enable a team of competent and dedicated software engineers working with developing code running on our own developed hardware; routers and wireless access points. Our agile team works mostly in C++ and also use Bash, C and Rust. The software runs on a Linux environment (Debian), and we use Git for version control. You will have personnel responsibility, including performance reviews, economic accountability, and development of staff. This position reports to the CTO and will be part of the R&D/CTO Office management team.

• Motivate and support the team to efficiently produce high quality software through mentoring and leadership.
• Create functional strategies and ensure the quality and delivery of embedded software for new and existing products.
• Structure agile and efficient methods for the software development.

What we are looking for
You should have a genuine interest in software to be able to speak the same language as the engineers in your team. Additionally, you have strong communication skills, enjoy problem solving and can keep the balance in between managing the team as a whole group as well as individuals. Structure and effectiveness are proficiencies that you find highly valuated, for yourself and others. It is important that you are independent and interested in developing and optimizing processes or new ways of working together with your team and stakeholders.
Most likely you have a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation, Electronics, or related field, as well as knowledge in product development, from idea to complete product. A few years’ experience as line manager, preferably within embedded software development or equivalent area, is a great advantage. Good knowledge of English is required.
